In Catania, you can enjoy funny days with your children, visiting and discovering its iconic monuments and its hidden treasures.

How many splendid cultural recreational activities aimed at children and families are there in the city. We propose a walk through the streets of the center of Catania, to discover five places to explore with the little ones.

Our itinerary begins with a visit to the Benedictine Monastery. The Officine Culturali Association operates within it, offering guided tours and workshops aimed at getting to know and enjoying this place full of history.

The walk continues to discover a fortress, with towers and moat: the Ursino Castle. Inside the courtyard, children can go in search of ancient engravings made by galleons. The Castle houses the Civic Museum which is worth a visit, especially the Pinacoteca where important portraits are kept that children can have fun imitating. Inside there is a bookshop where children can play at equipped tables or read.

Arrived in Piazza Duomo you will notice the elephant in lava stone. One of the most beautiful legends about this elephant is that of the magician Eliodoro who rode around this pachyderm using a magic formula to make it fly. At the top of the obelisk there is an inscription whose letters are an acronym, children can play creating one with letters of their own name.

Going up via Etnea you will find yourself in Piazza Università, characterized by four bronze lampposts depicting some characters linked to famous legends of the city. One of the most iconic represents the legend of Gammazita, a young man from Catania who, in order not to succumb to the courtship of a French soldier, threw himself into a well. The other three lampposts depict the legends of Colapesce, the paladin Uzeda and the Pii brothers.

Walking along via Etnea, an obligatory stop is at the Bellini Garden, a park in the heart of the city where you can run, ride a bicycle and play with slides and swings of various kinds. Near the entrance to Piazza Roma there is a monumental tree that captures everyone's attention: a centuries-old ficus with enormous roots!
Another unmissable monument to visit is the cloister of music on top of the hill, where you can play and invent shows.

And why not finish the itinerary by refreshing yourself in one of the bars in via Etnea?
